Summary: An unsold ABC pilot. An hourlong drama focused on Detective Jim McCarty (John McGinley), who moves from Manhattan to Long Island, in the hopes of providing a better atmosphere to raise his family. What he finds, however, is that the suburbs are just as strange, if not stranger, than the big city. With the help of a young sidekick (Eric Close), McCarty tries to track down a killer who has been using liposuction as a motive for bloodshed. Although this show is a bit strange, it uses the "fish out of water'' premise successfully. [From the New York Times]
My comments: EC looks very Brick McKenna-like and there are a lot of quips and grins. He's the whacky, off-the-wall but extremely competent one, and John C. McGinley is the baffled, straight man. I could see the series potential but I'm not sure that the premise could have been sustained. Alas, we'll never know, ABC did not option it but they did air the pilot episode during the summer.
