Summary : Commonwealth Airlines Flight 323 crashes and a team of investigators from the National Transportation and Safety Board (N.T.S.B.) are sent to investigate. The team, lead by Al Cummings, work to determine the cause of the crash - mechanical failure, pilot error or an act of terrorism. They must try to make sense of the tragedy by putting the pieces together while facing reporters, lawyers and grieving relatives. The story of the crash is told through flashbacks of the flight crew, passengers and rescuers.
Cast: Mandy Patinkin, Ted McGinley, Eric Close, Kevin Dunn, Tyra Ferrell, Jeffrey D. Sams and Francie Swift
Eric Close role: "Not Tom" (N'Tom) Price
[Yes, "Not Tom" stands for "Not Tom Cruise" since the character went to the Academy and was a pilot until diagnosed with diabetes. His friends liken him to Tom Cruise in Top Gun but he doesn't believe those perfect characters really exist so he doesn't want to be called "Tom," thus the "Not Tom." You never actually hear the character's real name. There is another character in this movie called Hub Weber which stands for "Highly Unlikely Bob" Weber - so what's with all the nicknames?]
Notable: Brett Cullen plays Hub Weber and later appeared in the Without A Trace episode called "Midnight Sun" as Greg Prichard.
